It always excites me to perform this simple test in all the communication mobile apps or mobile networks that I use . I would just send a SMS to myself and see how it behaves. As expected, It just looks like a normal conversation between two people without any difference. Interesting part comes when you make a phone call to the same phone number that you are using to make a call . Great ! you will get a busy tone which is acceptable notification.
Today I tried to make a video call on Facebook to myself. I opened up facebook Messenger app in my smartphone having both front and back cameras. Meanwhile I have had my facebook profile opened up in macbook. And I called up myself. Now I was expecting an error like- user is busy, or more accurate message like - 'You cannot make call to yourself'. But results were unexpected and also unrealistic. Because the error message was - "Video call is disabled for this call because shashikiran's device doesn't support video' which is not the case.
Here, I am not trying to say that it is a big bug, but for the companies like facebook, I was expecting a very realistic approach on this kind of scenarios.
